Ihor Zavhorodnii

Ihor Zavhorodnii (b. 1988) is a Ukrainian violinist, violist, and composer.

From 2009 to 2016, Zavhorodnii was a member of the Kyiv Soloists National Chamber Ensemble. He has been an artist at the Ukho Ensemble Kyiv since 2015. Since 2018, he has been a violinist of the Danapris String Quartet. Since 2016, he has worked with the New Era Orchestra as the concertmaster of the group of second violins. Zavhorodnii has been a member of NotaBene Chamber Group and a soloist at the National House of Organ and Chamber Music of Ukraine since 2022.

Since 2018, Ihor Zavhorodnii has participated in the Open Opera project on the baroque viola. Since 2020, he has cooperated with the modern opera laboratory Opera Aperta. In particular, he participated in the creation of the project Chornobyldorf. Archaeological opera as a multi-instrumentalist (viola, morin khuur, shakuhachi), performer, actor, and vocalist.

From 2018 to 2023, Ihor Zavhorodnii taught violin at the Reinhold Glière Kyiv Municipal Academy of Music.

As a soloist and chamber musician, Zavhorodnii toured in Austria, Bulgaria, China, Lithuania, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Switzerland, and Japan. He premiered numerous works by Ukrainian and international composers, some of which were recorded with the National Radio of Ukraine and published by the labels Winter & Winter and KAIROS.

As a composer, Ihor Zavhorodnii’s works have been featured at international festivals such as Klangwerkstatt Berlin (Germany), Gaudeamus Festival (Utrecht, The Netherlands), ORF Musikprotocoll (Graz, Austria), Two Days and Two Nights of New Music (Odesa, Ukraine), and Golfstream (Kyiv, Ukraine).
