The Ukrainian accordionist Roman Yusipey was born in 1979 in Kherson. He graduated from the National Music Academy of Ukraine (Prof. Mykola Davydov), the University of Music in Hannover (Prof. Elsbeth Moser), and Folkwang Univerity in Essen (Prof. Mie Miki).

Yusipey received scholarships from the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation and the International Lions Club. Concert tours lead him to Germany, France, Canada, the UK, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy, Poland, and Japan. He has been a guest lecturer at the Krakow Music Academy and a visiting professor at the Kazakh Kurmangazy National Conservatory.

As a soloist, Roman Yusipey has performed over a hundred concerts with conductors such as Roman Kofman, Andrey Boreyko, Vladimir Jurowski, Volodymyr Sirenko, and others. Collaborating enthusiastically with contemporary composers, Yusipey premiered numerous works for the button accordion. In 2015 he recorded a CD “For Every City – Ukrainian Music of the 21st Century for Accordion.”

In recent seasons, Roman Yusipey performed at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Jenaer Philharmonie, Radio Berlin-Brandenburg, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Mozarteum Salzburg, and Salle Cortot Paris.
