Anna Arkushyna

Composers

Anna Arkushyna was born in 1989 in Lutsk, Ukraine. She graduated from Kyiv Special Music College in 2009 (music theory department, composition class by Professor Alla Zagaykevych) and from the National Music Academy of Ukraine in 2014 (composition class by Professor Yevhen Stankovych).

In 2017 she graduated from the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (composition class by Professor Beat Furrer). From 2015 to 2019 Anna was a student at IEM Graz, a class by Professor Marko Ciciliani and Professor Daniel Mayer. Since 2020 she is a student in a composition class by Professor Franck Bedrossian at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz.

Anna has been a participant in workshops on composition by P. Billone, A. Posadas, C. Iannotta, G. Staebler, S. Newski, M. Andre, R. Cendo, A. V. Gorne, and J. Reis. She also took lessons with D. Kourliandski, C. Bauckholt, and S. Gervasoni.

In 2022–23 Anna is a student of the Cursus Program on Composition and Computer Music at IRCAM, Paris.

Her music has been performed during many festivals and projects in Ukraine (Premiers of the Season, Gogolfest), Poland, France (Manifeste), Germany (Heroines of Sound, Randspiele, Festival NOW!), the Netherlands (Gaudeamus Muziekweek), Austria (Impuls, Concert Talk), Croatia (Novalis Festival), Chile, Mexico, Lithuania, Japan, Korea, Slovakia, and Switzerland by ensembles such as Musikfabrik, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Ensemble Modern, Quatuor Béla, Airborne Extended, Cantando Admont, Ensemble Spectrum, Kwartludium, Pre-Art-Solisten, MozArt Sinfonietta Salzburg, and many others.

Awards

Anna Arkushyna is the finalist in the composers' competition Step to the Left-4 (Saint Petersburg, 2011), and the third-prize-winner of the pre-art composers’ competition in Switzerland (2017).

Anna was also a finalist of the Ö1-Talentebörse Kompositionspreis (2020, 2022) in Austria. In 2021 she was awarded Musikförderungspreis der Stadt Graz.

In 2022 she got Startstipendium für Musik und darstellende Kunst 2022 from Bundesministerium für Kunst, Kultur, öffentlichen Dienst und Sport (Austria).
