Who are we

Kyiv Contemporary Music Days is an educational and concert platform for classical contemporary music.

What do we do

concerts of chamber, orchestral and electroacoustic music

public lectures, master-classes and workshops: both for professional and for a wide audience

Why we do it

Based in Kyiv, Ukraine, we team up with like-minded professionals who live and work in different parts of the world and aim to form, enhance, and diversify a community that shares interests in contemporary art, including new music.

First and foremost, KCMD is about people. Shortly after that, about the music.

We started our activity on December 11, 2015: the very first concert of the first Kyiv Contemporary Music Days’ festival took place. Within 10 days of the festival 17 concerts and lectures took place at 10 venues in Kyiv and Lviv with the participation of musicians from Portugal, Spain, Italy, Germany, Austria, Poland, Ukraine, and Georgia.

Since then, we have organized 150 events as part of seven festivals in Kyiv, Lviv, and Lisbon, joined by musicians from the United Kingdom, the United States, France, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Germany, Denmark, Austria, Serbia, Switzerland, Sweden, Poland, Georgia, Mexico, Argentina, Philippines, Australia, Russia, Japan, China and other countries.

Kyiv Contemporary Music Days was founded by guitarist Francisco Morais Franco (Portugal), clarinetist Darko Horvatic (Serbia-Croatia), composer Albert Saprykin (Ukraine) and violinist Junya Makino (Japan).
